Not Guilty on DUI Charge in Floyd County

COBB SUPERIOR COURT

Client was observed traveling at a high rate of speed by an off-duty officer. The off-duty officer observed the client pull into a bar parking lot and get out of the vehicle. He then observed the client get into a verbal altercation with staff members of the bar. The client was then told to leave.

Later, a DUI police officer arrived at the scene and arrested the client for DUI.

The client stand the risk of losing his CDL and his job if he got a DUI. Attorney Richard Blevins took the case and tried to get a reduction but was told the prosecution office had any reduction policy. Attorney Richard Blevins then took the case to a jury trial. After a one day trial and 20 minutes of deliberations the Jury found the client not guilty of DUI, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. Client was extremely happy.

Attorney Richard Blevins is a former Cobb County Assistant District Attorney and Assistant Solicitor General. He is a part-time criminal justice instructor at Chattahoochee Technical College in Marietta, Georgia.

He graduated third in his class at the DeKalb County Police Academy and achieved an intermediate certification from Georgia’s Peace Officer Standards & Training Council.
