Attorney Richard Blevins represented a client who was stopped by the police for failing to maintain his lane. The client had a previous attorney he was not happy with and hired Mr. Blevins.

The State offered a reckless driving but the client declared his innocence on the case.

Attorney Richard Blevins took the case to a jury trial. During the jury trial, Mr. Blevins crossed examined the arresting police officer on his administering of the field sobriety tests. Mr. Blevins was able to show the officer lacked sufficient evidence to support a DUI conviction.

The jury not only came back with a not guilty verdict on the DUI charge, but also a not guilty verdict on the failure to maintain lane charge.

Attorney Richard Blevins is a former Cobb County Assistant District Attorney and Assistant Solicitor General. He is a part-time criminal justice instructor at Chattahoochee Technical College in Marietta, Georgia.

He graduated third in his class at the DeKalb County Police Academy and achieved an intermediate certification from Georgia’s Peace Officer Standards & Training Council.

Attorney Richard Blevins was a former Detective with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, a former Police Officer with the Milledgeville Police Department and the DeKalb County Police Department.
